9 Affordable Places Women Actually Buy Work Clothes

We know the words “office dressing” don’t tend to conjure up much excitement. Chalk it up to company dress codes or the general disenchantment with the idea of putting on an outfit just to sit in a cubicle, but waking up and dressing for work can feel particularly uninspiring. Luckily enough, it doesn’t have to be. At Who What Wear, we’ve found that one of the best resources for a refresh is from our cool and creative readers, which is why we tapped our Who What Wear Insiders Facebook group to find out the best stores for work clothes (that are actually affordable).

Below, you’ll find a breakdown from women who work across a range of industries and encounter dress codes that range from techie-relaxed (think jeans and hoodies) to ultra-formal (we’re looking at you, lawyers). Armed with the insider shopping knowledge from other women who have been deep in … Read the rest

#LifeLessons: Anastasia Soare on How She Built Her Brow Empire

Our Second Life podcast (released on Mondays) is growing! On Wednesdays, we’ll be releasing a limited series in partnership with Cartier called Life Lessons, in which Who What Wear co-founder and Chief Content Officer Hillary Kerr will chat with women who’ve had incredible careers within a single field or industry. Subscribe to Second Life on iTunes, and stay tuned. This week, she’s talking to Anastasia Soare, the brow guru and entrepreneur behind Anastasia Beverly Hills.

These days, we know her as the woman who forever changed the way we do our brows—the woman who saved us from the skinny, wiry arches we thought looked so good circa 1995. But to hear Anastasia Soare tell it, she came into the business of bettering our brows almost by accident after immigrating to Los Angeles from her native Romania back in the early ’90s.

“Look, you don’t speak the language,” she … Read the rest

Working in a fashion office is kind of like real-life Instagram. I'm Turning 40 Next Year—Here's How I'm Approaching Fashion Now

I'm Turning 40 Next Year—Here's How I'm Approaching Fashion Now

It almost goes without saying that your style evolves as you get older. As the years pass and trends come and go, certain items are bound to fall by the wayside as you mature. Since style is so personal, and everyone, regardless of their age, should feel entitled to wear whatever they like, we decided to reach out to one particularly stylish late-30-something woman and asked her to share some insights into how her style has changed over the course of her 30s.

We’re referring to Create & Cultivate‘s editorial director, Sacha Strebe, who you might also recognize as the former editorial director of MyDomaine. Often clad in head-to-toe black and always looking effortlessly chic, the stylish content creator divulged that she has been making modifications to her wardrobe that make her feel cool, confident, and, most importantly, comfortable in her own skin. 3 Pieces I Wear to Get Away With Jeans and Tees at Work

3 Pieces I Wear to Get Away With Jeans and Tees at Work

I’ll admit it: I’m lazy. The thought of coming up with inventive, stylish office outfits five days a week never fails to stress me out, so I usually revert to the universal fail-safe combo of jeans and a T-shirt. Naturally, this duo doesn’t exactly scream boardroom, so I rely on a few key pieces to polish them up so I can get away with wearing basics to the office.

First up: a satin or silk blazer. While structured wool blazers are also a favorite of mine, I find that looser, flowier blazers are more comfortable for nine-hour days and still as grown-up and cool. My favorite way to wear them? By contrasting the nighttime vibe of satin with a fun band tee—preferably a Rolling Stones or Beatles version by my go-to brand, Madeworn. I’m also partial to a colorful cardigan and kitten heels to liven up jeans and T-shirts. Scroll … Read the rest

Subscribe to Second Life on iTunes, and stay tuned. This week, Hillary talks to Tamara Mellon, the woman who co-founded Jimmy Choo and went on to launch her own eponymous line.

Believe it or not, London-born designer Tamara Mellon tells us that when she left school without a degree, she was voted “least likely to succeed.” Over a decade later, after she had worked in PR and as an editor at British Vogue, co-founded a top-selling designer shoe company (yep, that would be Jimmy Choo), and then started her own eponymous label, that same school came knocking on her door asking Read the rest

The 3-Piece Outfit Formula Our Editors Always Wear to the Office

The 3-Piece Outfit Formula Our Editors Always Wear to the Office

Every workplace has its own dress code, so what works in one office might not work in another. As a fashion media company, Who What Wear is fairly relaxed, which means office attire is open to interpretation. So what do our editors wear to the office? When I asked my fellow editors to weigh in, I was surprised to find out that all of our outfits revolve around the same key pieces.

While our personal style varies across the board, there are three items our editors wear to the office on the regular: a blazer, pants, and heels. Yes, some of us are more trend-forward, some more classic, and others more minimal, but regardless of the style tribes we fall under, these three office-outfit staples are the foundations of our workplace wardrobes. Go on to see which pieces our editors wear to the office and shop … Read the rest
