The New Trousers Trend I’m Giving Up My Jeans for this Fall

Let’s be honest, there are not a lot of things I’d really give up my jeans for. They’re quite frankly, the hardest working item in my closet and my sartorial rock. But the fall 2019 runways have seriously made me rethink my pant game. In a big way. From Chloe to Chanel and Zimmermann, one of the biggest trouser trends we saw on the fall 2019 runways were ultra-long, loose and relaxed trousers—but before you think sloppy and boho—think again. These sophisticated pants seemed like they were made for the modern working woman—high-waisted and slightly tailored for a comfortable, and sophisticated look. Some pants were paired with pretty blouses, others with oversize sweaters and many with matching blazers as part of a slouchy suit—however you choose to style them, it’s safe to say this new silhouette is the most refreshing, flattering and grown up look, we seriously can’t wait to wear this fall.

Give your jeans a well-deserved break and opt for one of these loose and languid pairs below. Just add heels or flatform sneakers (but the idea is they’re meant to graze the floor!). Dry cleaning bill—totally worth it.

At Valentino, luxe and languid loose trousers were worn as a slouchy suit in a sumptuous creamy hue.

Floor-grazing pants were paired with romantic blouses at Nina Ricci.

You’ll want to live in this cozy sweater-and-slouchy-pants combo when the cool weather rolls around. Thank you, Max Mara for the inspo.

Don’t be afraid of a herringbone or plaid print for a statement look—as seen at Chanel.

A flowy long coat over floor-grazing pants creates an elongated silhouette and looks particularly luxurious in various shades of beige and cream.

Just add a simple t-shirt and blazer for a refreshing menswear-inspired look.

Define a high-waisted pair of long and loose tailored pants with a statement belt. All you need is a crisp, white tank top to finish off your chic summer look.

Don’t be afraid of bold color. For a statement look opt for a slouchy suit in head-to-toe red.

Pointed-toe boots or pumps always work so well with wide-leg pants and help balance the look.

A pretty pink hue can work for the office when paired with a chic work shirt.

You can’t go wrong with classic black trousers. While it’s still warm out, cool-girls are wearing them with trending flip-flops.

A minimalist black and white look is simple yet striking.
